It was incorporated with the state of Illinois in 1994. The corporation is governed by a board of directors consisting of community volunteers that donate their time and talent.

Crime Stoppers has been funded entirely with proceeds from fund raisers, donations from citizens and civic organizations. In recent years, the greater portion of funds has been received from the Boone County Circuit Clerk.

Your donation of time, talent or cash is appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering, please call or e-mail us. Your monetary contribution to Crime Stoppers is tax deductible. You can mail a check to: Crime Stoppers, 615 N. Main St. Belvidere, IL 61008.

We thank you for your generosity.

Your dollars will be used:

  • To pay cash rewards.
  • To assist the local enforcement agencies in protecting citizens.

In addition to the reward program, we offer a scholarship program to local high school students and an impact grant program to local law enforcement agencies and schools. These entities can apply for grants that will help them benefit and improve their current operations.

The Purpose of the Corporation is

To promote community welfare and lessen the burdens of local and area governments by assisting law enforcement agencies in the prevention of crime and the apprehension and conviction of criminals through making funds available for use in offering rewards.

This objective may be achieved by

  • Helping develop a community offensive against crime
  • Motivating citizens to cooperate with the Belvidere Police Department, Boone County Sheriff’s Office and other area law enforcement agencies.
  • Providing rewards and awards for such cooperation
  • Informing and educating everyone through dissemination of information as to criminal schemes and tactics so as to further protect the public.
